The Minister for Education Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has officially endorsed the young actor Master Abraham Attah, as an ambassador for the Free Senior High School programme at a short ceremony organized by the E ON 3 Group, a business solutions and digital marketing company.
The young actor was accompanied by Mawuko Kuadzi, his manager and Richard Ofori Atta, the Executive Director of E ON 3 who used the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Addressing the press, the ceremony, the Hon.Minister described Abraham Attah as a star and a source of inspiration to children and therefore he is in a better position to encourage a lot of these children to take advantage of the Free SHS policy meant to make secondary education accessible to every Ghanaian.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh said that Abraham Attah was chosen as an ambassador because of his popularity and achievement at such a tender age and therefore has become a beacon of hope for a lot of deprived children.
The Minister affirmed that from September,2017 the new Free Senior High School(SHS) will eventually be rolled out and this will bring a lot of hope to all Ghanaian students who pass their Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) and qualify to Senior High Schools of their choice.
The Minister disclosed that the Ministry in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, has organized a series of workshops for Regional and District Directors of Education, Bursars, matrons, storekeepers, Teachers unions and others as part of stakeholder engagements as preparations towards the implementation of the Free SHS programme.
Abraham Attah thanked the Hon.Minister for the honour done him and assured him that he would play the role he has been assigned to the best of his ability and made a donation of shoes to the Ministry to be distributed to children in deprived communities in the country.
